We drove through the great Kern Canyon on our way to Lake Isabella. While in Lake Isabella, we stopped at the Paiute Indian's Cuui Nunni (means Our House) Cultural Center. They have a nice display of local Indian artifacts and handmade items. Lots of Indian made beading, baskets, dream catchers, blankets and clothing. While there, Debbie was overheard saying to me, "I'd love to know how to make a basket." One of the volunteer ladies heard that and introduced her to an Indian lady who was doing some crafts. Her name was Sue, and she stopped doing her crafts to teach Debbie how to make a basket from pine needles. Debbie started the basket at the Cultural Center and will finish it while on our trip. We had a picnic behind the Cultural Center, overlooking Lake Isabella.
