The Queen Mary, Long Beach, California

On Saturday, March 3rd we drove to Long Beach to see Cunard Line's Queen Mary.  Built in 1936, it was the classiest ocean liner of its day.  Art Deco throughout, it is one beautiful ship.  The liner was taken out of service in 1940 and it became a troop transport and supply ship for Great Britain for World War II.  It went unscathed throughout the war and then it became a cruise liner again after the war.  We also saw, but did not board the Russian submarine Scorpion, anchored next door.  Our last stop was the beach and hot dogs and beer at a little place called Dogz on Main Street in Belmont Beach.
