Visiting Cousin Gerry
Today we met with Debbie's cousin Gerry McBride, who she had not spent time with in nearly 50 years. Gerry moved with his partner John Hedges from Elyria/Lorain Ohio to San Francisco and Debbie moved with her family to Largo, Florida back in the early 1970's. We had a great time visiting Gerry and John at their beautiful home in Palm Springs. We went out for a great lunch at the local golf course, it was a marvelous restaurant, with views of the mountains and the golf course. We had a great time catching up on what has happened in that time and exchanged stories about the two families. Gerry gave us his older brother Dennis's address in nearby Fountain Valley, so we hope to get with him soon. We will get together with Gerry and John again very soon. As we were leaving, they told us about Idyllwild, a town in the mountains and hour away, so off we went. Idyllwild reminded us both of Woodstock, New York, a small, folksy mountain town with lots of touristy shops and restaurants. We shopped, had some coffee and headed back down the mountain to our winter home in Hemet. You can tell by the smiles on the photos that we had a great day.
